Licensing

Purple8 DocIntel is proprietary software. The Community edition is free to use with no license key; paid tiers unlock higher throughput and managed connectors.

License Key

The free Community edition needs no key. For a paid tier you will receive a license key from Purple8. Set it as an environment variable:

How validation works

The license key is cryptographically signed. Validation happens entirely offline using HMAC-SHA256 signature verification — no phone-home, no license server required.

The key is a wire-format string: base64(json_payload).base64(hmac_sha256_signature). The server verifies the signature on startup and caches the result.

Air-Gapped Deployment

Enterprise licenses support fully offline validation — the license key is cryptographically signed and verified locally. No network calls required.

Troubleshooting

"License key is required"

→ Make sure LICENSE__KEY is set in your environment. Run echo $LICENSE__KEY to verify.

"License key signature is invalid"

→ Ensure you copied the full key from the email without any trailing spaces or line breaks.

"License has expired"

→ Contact hello@purple8.ai for a renewal.
